Santa Fe Fuego Hold Off Tucson Saguaros 5-4

July 16 2018 The Santa Fe Fuego held off the Tucson Saguaros 5-4 in a seven-inning game at Vargas Field. Santa Fe scored in each of the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead, while Tucson answered with four runs in the fourth to even the game. The Fuego scored the deciding run in the sixth inning and Tucson was held scoreless in the seventh. C. Kwitzer led Santa Fe with two hits, including a home run, two runs batted in and one run scored. J. Smart also collected two hits and drove in a run, while A. Stubblefield went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Dillon Sunnafrank added a hit and an RBI, and Robert Garza scored once and stole two bases. Sunnafrank earned the win after allowing four runs on four hits in seven innings. He struck out seven and walked one. Tucson starter Dakota Edwards took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits in six innings with five strikeouts and three walks. Austin Hoffman hit a two-run homer for Tucson, and Willie Ethington also homered and drove in two runs.
