Tucson Saguaros Blank White Sands Pupfish 1-0

July 14 2018 Kyle Atkinson delivered a seven-inning no-hit shutout as the Tucson Saguaros defeated the White Sands Pupfish 1-0. Tucson improved to 42-18-0 while White Sands fell to 7-55-0.

The game’s only run came in the fifth inning when Atkinson hit a solo home run, his first of the season, and drove in the game-winning run. Tucson finished with six hits, including doubles by Justin Crider and Willie Ethington. Atkinson also went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.

Atkinson earned the win after allowing no hits and no runs while striking out five and walking two. Tommy Giunta took the loss for White Sands despite allowing only one run on six hits over six innings, with one walk and three strikeouts.

The Pupfish were held hitless, drawing two walks and striking out five times. Tucson finished the seven-inning game with one error, while White Sands played errorless baseball.
