July 25 2016 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Alpine Cowboys 8-6 in an 11-inning game at Kokernot Field. Tucson collected 18 hits and scored in the first sixth eighth ninth and 11th innings while Alpine finished with 12 hits and rallied in the seventh eighth and ninth innings. Both teams committed two errors.
Michael Rampone led Tucson with four hits in six at-bats two RBI and a walk. Michael Morris added three hits and an RBI while Tanner Giesel went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Giesel also scored once and Tucson received two-hit efforts from Jimmy Heck and several other contributors in the 18-hit attack.
Alpine was led by Crisford Adames who had two hits and scored twice. Eric Ferguson and R. Wilson also collected two hits each with Wilson driving in three runs. Tim Henry and Ely Gallego each added a hit and an RBI for the Cowboys.
Steven Borkowski delivered 6.2 innings for Tucson allowing one run on eight hits while striking out nine. Brian Luebcke earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings with one hit allowed and two strikeouts. For Alpine Jake Heissler worked five innings and allowed one unearned run with six strikeouts before Chris Rogers was charged with the loss after Tucson scored twice in the 11th.
