Cowboys Pound Saguaros 15-3

July 9 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Tucson Saguaros 15-3 at Kokernot Field, scoring in each of the first three innings to build an early advantage. Alpine led 4-1 after the first inning, added eight runs in the second and three more in the third. Tucson scored twice in the sixth inning but could not close the gap. Josh Rego led Alpine with two hits and six RBI, including a home run. James Prockish also homered and drove in two runs, while Trevor Tripoli and Drake Angeron each collected three hits and two RBI. AJ Folds scored three runs and added two hits, and Wyatt Grant scored twice and had two hits. Alpine finished with 17 hits and seven walks. Dieterich Guertzgen earned the win after allowing three runs on four hits over six innings with one walk and four strikeouts. Jesse Garcia pitched a scoreless seventh inning with one strikeout. Tucson starter Carson McKenna took the loss after surrendering 12 hits and 12 runs, 11 earned, in 1.2 innings. Zac Rice provided Tucsons main offensive highlight with a two-run home run and three RBI, as the Saguaros finished with six hits.
