Garden City Wind Rally Past Tucson Saguaros 7-5

May 31 2024 The Garden City Wind defeated the Tucson Saguaros 7-5 after scoring twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to answer a five-run Tucson rally. Garden City finished with 10 hits, while Tucson had seven. The Wind committed two errors and the Saguaros made one.

Garden City built a 5-0 lead through seven innings, scoring once in the second and twice in each of the sixth and seventh. Tucson broke through with five runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game, but Garden City regained the lead in the bottom half and held on in the ninth.

Aric Vasquez delivered three RBIs for Garden City on a 1-for-1 performance, and Leo Gallegos added two RBIs while going 1-for-1. Robert Morosetti collected three hits in five at-bats, while Jacob Talamante and Colton Adams each scored twice. For Tucson, Wata Kumagai had two hits and Colin Johnson reached base four times with one hit two walks and one RBI.

Jake Norris worked six scoreless innings for Garden City, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out eight. Gavin Peterson earned the win with one inning of one-hit relief, and Adam Wibert secured the save with a scoreless ninth that included two strikeouts. Blake Garrett pitched 5.2 innings for Tucson and allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits with six strikeouts. Evan Yedinak was charged with the loss after allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
