Wind Edge Saguaros in Late Inning Pitchers Duel

July 4 2023 The Garden City Wind defeated the Tucson Saguaros 2-1 in a tightly contested pitchers duel. Both teams finished with six hits, but Garden City scored once in the fifth inning and again in the eighth to secure the victory. Tucson answered with its lone run in the eighth, but could not complete the comeback.

Jordan Harris delivered 6.2 scoreless innings for Garden City, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out eight. Paul Rector was charged with one run in one inning, while Kyle Adkins earned the win with a scoreless inning and Gavin Peterson recorded the save after allowing one hit in the ninth. Tucson starter Blake Garrett worked 7.1 innings, giving up five hits and two runs with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Garden City received RBI from Devon Zielke and Dominic Enbody. Terry Daniels and Reyes Willis scored the Wind runs, while Zachary Elias collected the teams only extra-base hit with a double. Tucsons six-hit attack included two hits from BJ Minarcin, including a double, and an RBI from Kirkland Trahan.

The Saguaros were held scoreless through the first four innings before Garden City took the lead in the fifth. Tucson tied the game in the eighth, but the Wind regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning and held on. Garden City committed two errors, while Tucson played error-free baseball.
