Tucson Saguaros Outlast Alpine Cowboys 8-7 in 10 Innings

June 6 2023 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Alpine Cowboys 8-7 in 10 innings at Kokernot Field. Tucson collected 13 hits and Alpine finished with nine in a back-and-forth game that featured five lead changes or ties after the fourth inning.

Alpine built a 6-4 advantage through five innings, but Tucson scored twice in the seventh and once in the eighth to move ahead 7-6. The Cowboys tied the game with a run in the ninth before the Saguaros pushed across the deciding run in the 10th.

Colin Johnson and JuJuan Franklin each had three hits for Tucson, while K. Strachan added two hits and two doubles. Johnson drove in a run, as did Zachary Campbell and Jordan Harrison-Dudley, who also hit Tucsons only home run. Madison Santos scored three runs and drew four walks.

Drew Bayard led Alpine with two hits, two runs and two walks, while Jeff Disla added two hits. Andrew Capone went 1-for-1 with a triple and an RBI, and Joseph Barfield and Matthew Wheeler also drove in runs. Tucson reliever Tyler Cornett earned the win after allowing one run on one hit with five strikeouts in two innings. Alpines Luis Florentino took the loss, surrendering two runs on two hits with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings.
